Christine Pike Ceramic Hare Sculpture
This stunning Hare on a Hill sculpture is handcrafted by the renowned ceramicist Christine Pike.
This stunning piece is comprised of ceramic, reclaimed British hard-wood and mixed media.
Christine has sculpted, in one medium or another, for most of her life. Since leaving university she worked as a soft sculpture artist for 17 years. She returned to her first love - clay, and has been making figurative pieces since 2007.
Christines' work is informed by ideas and reflections upon the nature of childhood, play, half-remembered folk tales and how these things impact us as adults. Christine's figures tell stories, sometimes light-hearted and sometimes unsettling and melancholy, she tries to capture character and a suggestion of private thoughts. Sometimes her figures disguise themselves as animals. Occasionally these are caught in the act of transformation half human, half beast. Wherever possible, she uses reclaimed and British hardwood such as oak, ash and beech for framing and presentation, often enhancing its natural flaws.
The hare can be removed from the wooden stand and can be displayed simply as the hare on the hill as featured in image 4.
This striking Hare on Hill measures 330mm in height, 110mm in width and has a depth of 120mm
