Freya Alder Brooch
This cheeky little lady is handcrafted by the talented UK based jeweller Freya Alder.
It is comprised of brass, a more sustainable material than precious metals as it is an alloy typically made from recycled materials.
The brooch comes complete with a small cleaning cloth and instructions to help keep your pin looking its finest.
The lines you can see etched into the pin are actually created using a piecing saw and run the whole way through the brooch. The negative space created actually defines the character of the pin.
The brooch has a sturdy push pin fastener at the back to ensure it securely pins onto clothing.
Freya's work tends to be informal, relatively un-precious and playful. She has a love of illustrating the female form. She enjoys the long lines lines that so quickly represent a woman, with five strokes of a pen, one can conjure a form and a character within. The subject of the nude woman is fraught with conflicts. The female form is often reductively objectified and generally devalued. Freya wants her work to have a humour and an informality that isnt often afforded to the subject of the naked woman or indeed the discipline of jewellery.
The brooch measures 35mm by 24mm (at the widest point).
