Iris De La Torre Brooch
This fabulously quirky brooch is crafted by th incomparable Iris De La Torre. It is made from shimmering gold acrylic with a striking graphic printed eye and a magnificent black and mustard mane. The pin which the brooch fastens is a base metal silver plated pin bar.
The images really don't do this sparkly beast justice!
Iris's starting point in making the CATS collection was the symbolic and mystic connotations and beliefs that many cultures around the world and throughout history have held about cats. Iris believes felines are aesthetically beautiful and elegant animals and she wanted to represent them in a collection of 4 different cats with different personalities.
The roaring lion is the king of the jungle, and he represents strength, courage and kindness.
Iris has a wide variety of brooches, necklaces and earrings available to purchase. She designs colourful and playful graphics which are then transformed into jewellery. Her work is inspired by Mexican Folk Arts and Crafts and the magic of 1960's graphic design.
'In 2003 I travelled from Mexico to London to attend university, this was followed by 1 year studying a jewellery MA at Central Saint Martins. I consider thoroughly and consciously every aspect of the design of a piece to ensure that it will have presence and longevity, so that the owner would love to keep it and look after it forever. I don't follow fashions trends, instead I draw inspiration from nature, history and life '
The brooch measures 75mm by 5mm
