Kate Welton Ceramic Lemon Juicer
Who wouldn't want to start their morning with a glass of freshly squeezed citrus juice, especially if using one of Kate Welton's fun and colourful ceramic juicers?
Ceramicist, Kate Welton creates beautiful functional tableware for the home. This juicer features three yellow lemons against a light blue background, with loose playful marks adorning the edges of the bowl. The design is inspired by the beautifully fluid still life paintings of post-impressionist artist, Vanessa Bell.
Each of Kate's pieces are wheel-thrown and decorated with coloured slips that explore abstract mark making.
Glazed to make the piece food and drink safe - as with most handmade ceramics items, it is not suitable for use in the dishwasher, handwashing is recommended.
ABOUT THE MAKER: Kate graduated from De Montfort University, Leicester with a BA (Hons) in Design Crafts. A potter based on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, she has gently rolling farmland and the most magnificent skies to inspire her. “My Dad is, and my grandfather was, a very keen vegetable grower, and during my degree I took inspiration for my surface designs from their treasured gardening tools. I still love mark-making, but now my patterns evolve in a more intuitive way, by layering colour onto the clay’s surface, in a constant exploration of lines and circles.” When she isn’t potting, Kate can usually be found out for a walk, watching a black and white film or cooking.
