Frances Noon Wall Plaque - Bird & Flower
Full of quirk and charm, we think that this original wall-hung artwork by talented maker Frances Noon would make a wonderful gift for someone equally as fun and characterful.
Frances uses her printmaking etching skills and her rolling mill, as well as drawing on the metal surface with a hammer & punch to make individual animals, like the brass bird seen here, which are then presented on a hand-painted wooden plaque.
The bird's body is cut from a sheet of brass, whilst his tail and dangling legs are detailed in copper. A small flower, outlined in brass, dangles and swings from the bottom of the plaque, along with the bird's legs which also move.
There is a brass wire hanging fixture on the back of the piece, making it easy to hang on a nail or screw in the wall.
ABOUT THE MAKER: Originally a printmaker, Frances Noon started making silver jewellery in the 1990’s. Her interest in working primarily with metal has gradually exceeded the printed image, however she now applies the same skills and interests in drawing, acid etching and use of textures to her silver and metal work - now just on a smaller scale. Frances has recently been exploring the use of base metals, such as brass and copper, to create mini animal sculptures as an extension of her jewellery and printmaking.
