Hester Cox Limited Edition Collagraph Print - 'The Huntress'

A beautiful example of Hester Cox's master printmaking skills, this collagraph print is sure to captivate.

Depicting an alert young kestrel atop a drystone wall, lit only by the light of the full moon.

This is a variable edition collagraph print of 25, meaning that no two editions of this print will ever be identical, as the making process naturally lends itself to variation.

Hester enjoys working in a very detailed way and may use up to five or six plates to create one image. This careful planning is balanced with the use of collage materials, painting and cutting meaning that there is unpredictability inherent in the image making. The plates are sealed with varnish and then inked, wiped and put through the press.

Hester’s inspiration is most often derived from the natural landscape, the plants and wildlife that inhabit it and the stories, myths and symbolism associated with them.

ABOUT THE MAKER: Hester has a BA (hons) in Illustration and works from her studio in Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Her colourful and richly textured limited-edition collagraph prints reflect her appreciation of the natural landscape and are often inspired by things that she sees whilst out fellrunning. Collagraph and photopolymer are her preferred methods and she often combines these to create one richly coloured and textured print.
