Cuddle up on the sofa with a comforting tea or cosy hot chocolate in this beautiful Heather Elvidge stoneware and porcelain mix mug.

This elegant and classic mug has been 'thrown' on the potters wheel using a creamy speckled oatmeal stoneware and porcelain mix clay. The handle has been 'pulled', a method that creates a handle with a lovely dimple in the centre to rest your thumb and feels comfortable in the hand. Perfect for cosying up on a cold winter night, it's generous size and ergonomic rounded shape means that you can easily wrap both hands around to keep warm.

The unique feather design on the front has been hand-painted by Heather, meaning that no two mugs are ever the same, using a mix of oxides and underglaze pigments, from a study of a real feather that she had collected on her walks in the Yorkshire countryside. The mug that you will receive is the exact one pictured here.

The painted artwork is safely fired and sealed beneath the clear strong stoneware glaze, meaning that the design won't fade and when looked after will last for decades to come.

Although this mug has been fired at high temperatures and is safe for use in the dishwasher, it is recommended to handwash whenever possible, and it is not advised to be used in the microwave.

After attending art school, followed by a degree in Packaging Design, Heather Elvidge worked in the toy and gift industry for many years. A varied career, that took her to live in Hong Kong, eventually brought her back to settle in the beautiful countryside of East Yorkshire, where she now runs her ceramics business full time. Heather finds the entire process of making, from sticky lump of mud to beautiful piece of finished ceramic, thrilling, challenging and utterly addictive! Her work is a reflection of her love for the beauty of the natural world and the stunning Yorkshire countryside.
